I had an idea about helping fediverse instances and small online communities grow, but it is not something I could do alone. I was thinking of creating a network of associations and cooperatives that help fediverse instances, apps, and online communities with common issues, such as legal compliance, and technical issues.
These associations and cooperatives would provide free information to the public (target audience: fediverse & small online communities), and provide additional services either on a membership or fee basis. For example, for paying members, they could have attorneys on staff that can review policies before they roll out, or help write a custom privacy policy, etc. Associations could create a directory of developers and technical staff that can help, and cooperatives can offer developer and technical services directly.
To keep it decentralized, instead of a central organization controlling everything, an entity could be set up whose sole purpose is to research, compile, and share information about such regulations, and provide tools for independent associations and cooperatives to use. This entity would be a catalyst and enabler of independent associations, cooperatives, and public benefit corporations. It also would provide a platform for these entities to network, contribute, and cooperate with each other.
